In 2007, Mike Sheetal, originally from Australia and now resident in Tokyo, established the creative design agency UltraSuperNew Inc, with business partner Marc Wesseling.
In the two years since its establishment, UltraSuperNew has expanded fast and now offers clients a range of marketing services utilising engagement media, both online and offline.
In addition to UltraSuperNew, Mike is also responsible for Press Army, a social media analytics service.
In this interview Mike tells of some of the innovative campaigns they have carried out for clients such as Red Bull Japan, Audi and Phillips. He also talks about the impact of social media upon traditional marketing budgets, and has some valuable advice for others looking to set up business here.

loved the podcast. i’m a 30 year old mexican working on product design and i’m considering to move one day to japan to try some luck. of course i realize all the huge, multi dimensional challenges it poses, so i’d like to plan it well before i just dive in. Guess the three “must have” axis are: money, language and plan. i would’ve loved it more if mike had spent a little more time talking to us about the actual challenges of setting up a small business over there. cheers.
