From Daniel’s website:
Daniel Edwards’s diverse and often-unpredictable brand of pop/rock has drawn comparisons from Elvis Costello and the Talking Heads to The Barenaked Ladies, Jack Johnson, and John Mayer. His songs are built on a core of catchy melodies paired with lyrics that are sometimes tender and heartfelt and sometimes whimsical, but always have a story to tell.
As for Daniel, his story began in Charlotte, NC when he was recruited to play bass in a friend’s band, an instrument on which he is entirely self-taught. However he didn’t stop there. He quickly picked up a guitar, and within a month had written his first song. By the time he recorded his first album, Curtain Call, as a solo artist, Daniel had also taught himself how to play piano, harmonica, and the Irish tin whistle! This last instrument has been integral to the Daniel Edwards sound, which includes intricate arrangements of all the above instruments and more.
In this interview, Daniel tells us how he started out in Music, and how he set himself up once in Tokyo. He also has some good advice for artists wanting to make it in Japan.
We also hear “Heaven”, taken from his album “Curtain Call”.
His new single ‘Smile’ (and his entire back catalogue) is now available in iTunes. You can also check Daniel out on MySpace, and become a fan on Facebook. In the US, his single Smile is available from Amazon.com
