Video Special: Tokyo Koenji Awaodori traditional dance festival 2009

This extra web-only episode of Japan Podshow features some great footage from the Tokyo Koenji Awaodori Dance festival, held every year on the last weekend of August.
The festival, with approximately 12,000 performers, is one of the three largest in Tokyo, and is the second largest Awaodori in the whole of Japan. It has been running since 1957.
For more info see the official festival website.

[...] As you can see I stuffed up the aspect ratio as I’m a newbie at Final Cut (video editing software), and there’s a significant loss in quality due to it being on YouTube. You can download the original from Japan Podshow. [...]
Thank you for the pod on the festival. I spent 10 years in Japan working in Hokkaido for the Grand Hotel Group. I found you by looking for a review on a Cannon HF S11. I got two surprises. I was impressed with the quality of the video.
it’s more of a question than a comment but what format was it filmed in? (60i, 24p, 30p) i am looking into buying one of these and just wanted to see how the 24p/30p looked like. Im guessing it was in interlace but just asking because i wanted to see a sample of progressive video shot with the HF-S11.
Thanks
I’m afraid I don’t actually know! sorry.
Wow, great video on the HFS11 … I want one!
I too found this video from your Review on toptenreviews.com regarding the Canon HF-S11. I am also very impressed with the Quality. I only have one question. Was any additional lighting used?
no, just naturally available lighting.
