Hello. We're Pokya. We make podcasts.

Pokya.jpPokya was established by Joseph Tame in the winter of 2008-2009. The mission was simple: to produce high-quality, engaging Japan-themed pocasts for the English speaking community.

We produced two main podcasts, the first of which was Japan Podshow, a fortnightly release featuring Joseph and George introducing topical stories, on-the-street reports, live musical performances - and a lot of fun & adventures. Following that, Joseph embarked upon producing Making it in Japan, featuring interviews with Japan based entrepreneurs and artists.

A third podcast, Japan Techshow, ultimately only saw a few episodes released due to a lack of time! Production stopped in late 2009 when the project reached a natural end.

Japan TechshowAn experimental production, Japan Techshow features some of the most innovative technologies emerging from Japan, in short bite-sized audio or video chunks.

In addition to interviews with leading tech entrepreneurs, we featured various products from consumer gadgets to industrial robots.

Making it in Japan

Making it in JapanCatering for a more 'mature' audience, Making it in Japan showcased the achievements of English-speaking entrepreneurs and artists. In our interviews we heard how they have built businesses or carried out artistic projects, learnt of the challenges specific to Japan that they faced along the way (and how these were overcome), and found out what they would tell others who are thinking of pursuing careers in related fields.

A natural conclusion

Japan TechshowPokya.jp ultimately served its purpose well - to bring quality Japan-themed podcasts to an English-speaking audience interested in Japan.

Production of the podcasts also enabled the producer, Joseph Tame, to meet a wide variety of inspiring entrepreneurs and artists, and to integrate himself into the vibrate community here in Tokyo.
